The Blind Beggar

Peter Denton has added a photo to the pool:

The Blind Beggar

The Blind Beggar pub in the Whitechapel Road was built in 1898. In 1966 it became notorious when Ronnie Kray shot and killed George Cornell in the main bar. Kray and his twin brother Reggie were psychopathic East End gangsters and Cornell was part of the equally infamous Richardson Brothers gang.

But this wasn't the first murder in The Blind Beggar. In 1904 a pickpocket and common criminal called Wallis stabbed another man in the eye with an umbrella.

Today, the pub is visited by tourists from all over the world, and thrives on its past reputation. Its now a fully refurbished pub with a Victorian theme.

Oh... one of the Groups I belong to is "Walk-By Shootings". Seems appropriate.
