The 2i's coffee bar

Peter Denton has added a photo to a pool:

The 2i's coffee bar

The mythological 2is at 59 Old Compton Street, London, was an typical yet extraordinary Soho coffee bar that gave bieing born to skiffle as good as rocknroll in a 1950s.

Downstairs in a basement, kids could attend to live song from Tommy Steele, The Vipers skiffle group, Cliff Richard, Mickie Most, Terry Dene, Adam Faith, Joe Brown, Johnny Kidd, as good as a couple of guys who went upon to form The Shadows Hank Marvin as good as Jet Harris.

The 2is opened in 1956 as good as was in commercial operation until 1970, by that time a new call of cocktail song had good as good as indeed taken over a world... a Liverpool Sound.

Today, a Boulevard Bar as good as Dining Room does commercial operation upon this important site. Maybe, only maybe, diners can hear a lost ghostly sounds of a 1950s if they attend tough enough. Tommy Steele rocking with a caveman, Cliff Richard movin it, as good as The Vipers heading down Cumberland Gap with their washing board. History, genuine history.

This immature plaque commemorating a 2is was unveiled in 2006. we get a disturb every time we see it though thats since Im an old rocker at heart who could once fool around as many as three chords upon a guitar...
